Hello! We are the Foggy Bottom Whomp-Stompers, DC’s best (some would say only) traditional jazz band playing music from the early 20th century — dixieland, hot jazz, ragtime, swing, etc. We practice a few times a month in NW DC and gig around town at dances, parties, weddings and other events. We’ve played at, e.g, the Kennedy Center, Gypsy Sallys, Woodrow Wilson House, Germano’s (in Baltimore), National Portrait Gallery etc. Here’s a video sampler.
Our esteemed trumpet player is leaving the area for grad school in a few months, and we’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic new face to fill his shoes!
We also are looking for any additional musicians who may want to sit in on a gig now and then since we have more gigs than we are able to play with the current line up. If you love jazz music and play any instrument that could fit in the band–guitar, tenor banjo, vocals, percussion, saxophone, clarinet, tuba, trombone, fiddle, ETC!–get in touch!
